About Below Ground Sound Studios
I helped start this studio in the summer of 2003 in Stanchfield, MN then moved to Saint Paul in the summer of 2005. I wanted a studio that is very artist friendly and affordable without sacrificing on sound or our integrity. I think I've archived that and much more.
I've got twenty years experience playing/recording and four years experience as a studio owner/engineer.
The Studio consists of three rooms and a control booth. There is a large room for drum tracking, a vocal booth for vocals and guitar isolation and a smaller recording area for solo and small groups.
I use combination of 24 track standalone equipment and PC's to record on. The equipment we use is 100% protools wav file compatible and the files are fully transportable.
The artist who records with us has 100% ownership of his or her material, we won't copy write the mix or hold the masters, and we will make master disks for you at anytime. We won't try and charge you for things you don't need or want or work slowly just to run up your bill. You'll get exactly what you want and what you pay for.
Things to do before recording: change guitar strings, this can make a HUGE difference in the sound of a guitar. Tune the drum kit, change heads if needed, get as much of the ring out of drums as you can. This will save you time in the studio.
I have a collection on vintage amps available along with drums and keyboards, these can be used free of charge with the one rule "you break them, you fix them"
